Substitution

About Substitution

  • Due to seasonal and regional conditions some flowers in this bouquet may not be available on the specified day of delivery.  In that case, our talented floral artist will select flowers of equal or greater value to replicate the style, shape, size, fullness and overall color scheme of the bouquet.  Our goal is your complete satisfaction.
  • All of our designs on this website are created and photographed by our talented staff.  As a local florist we are in touch with what plants and flowers that are available in our area. We reflect regional, national and international trends.  Our floral artists are trained to create these custom designs.
  • The bouquet pictured was photographed at a specific angle with flowers in full bloom.  Your bouquet will arrive ready to bloom, so the flowers will open in stages for longer enjoyment.
  • Sending our artistry out of town to be duplicated by another florist is problematic.  We recommend selecting by style and color palette for those out of town orders.

How our designer's approach substitution.

  •  Color is our first priority.
  •  Shape of the flower.  Is it linear, round or open form?
  • Always substituting with a blossom of equal or greater value.
  • Selecting blossoms by personality.  Is the flower weedy, tropical or elegant?
  • Finally, will the selection of flowers work together to create a design with the same look and feel as the original.
  • Just like people, each flower has a distinctive look. No two blossoms are the same.  Altering the insertion or angle of the flower to replicate the look and feel of the design may be required to complete a similar look and feel.

Flower Care

Flower Care

  •  Add fresh water daily!
  • Recut the flower stems every 3rd day.  To recut the stem’s grab the flower bouquet where it meets the vase.   Dump the water in the vase and add fresh water.  Re-Cut the stems at an angle using clippers, scissors or knife and place the bouquet back in your vase of fresh water.
  •  Recutting the stems provides fresh cell structure to uptake water. Similar to humans’ flowers can develop clogged  arteries.
  •  Recutting an inch off the bottom of the stem can reduce the risk of premature drooping.
  • Keep your bouquets out of direct sunlight and air conditioning vents, that would dehydrate or damage the blossoms.
  • If you have a blossom that begins to droop.  Immediately remove from the arrangement, cut 1” off the bottom and float it in a sink filled with fresh water.  It will hydrate the blossom and clear the stem of a possible blockage.
  • Some blossom may contract Botrytis, which will appear as a dark brown patch under the blossom.  A common flower ailment brought on by exposure to warmth and humidity.
  • Never leave flowers unattended in a car.
